Ex-Marine Tells Prince Harry to 'Leave It Out' Over Family Grievances

Ben McBean Criticises Duke for Publicising Royal Rift Amid Growing Backlash

Prince Harry’s continued criticism of the royal family has drawn sharp rebukes, including from Ben McBean, a former marine commando and long-time acquaintance of the Duke.

McBean, who sustained life-altering injuries in Afghanistan and shared a flight home with Harry in 2008, was once praised by the Prince as a “hero.” However, in the German documentary Harry - The Lost Prince, McBean expressed disappointment over Harry’s ongoing public airing of private family matters.

Reflecting on Harry’s remarks about his brother William, McBean said, "I just thought, with him kind of whinging about his family… Mate, just leave it out. You and your brother had a little fisticuffs, but family’s family."

He compared Harry’s actions to oversharing on social media. "If one of my friends fell out with his partner and started posting things on social media, I’d have told him to shut up as well," McBean remarked.

This critique joins a chorus of disapproval Harry has faced since stepping back from royal duties in 2020. According to Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English, another former confidant severed ties with Harry, citing disgust over alleged private comments about his family.

As Harry continues to publicly discuss his royal experiences, critics argue that family grievances are best handled privately. McBean’s candid remarks reflect a sentiment shared by many, further highlighting the polarising nature of Harry’s decisions since his royal exit.
