King Charles Adjusts Royal Christmas Plans Amid Scandal and Health Concerns

Annual family lunch moves to Buckingham Palace as Andrew faces fresh scrutiny

King Charles III has made a significant change to this year’s pre-Christmas royal gathering, shifting the annual event to Buckingham Palace amid ongoing health concerns and Prince Andrew’s latest scandal.

Traditionally held at Windsor Castle for the past two years, the festive lunch will now take place at Buckingham Palace, welcoming extended members of the Royal Family. Expected guests include Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie, Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindall, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children, may attend if they have not already retreated to Anmer Hall in Norfolk for the school holidays.

Mike Tindall previously revealed insights into the family gathering, sharing that the event hosts around 70 attendees with seven tables, including a separate children’s table. Reflecting on a past experience, he said, “I was on [then] Prince Charles’ table. It was lovely, really good.”

However, amid the celebrations, the Duke of York has reportedly been advised to make a discreet arrival and exit following a recent scandal involving his connection to an alleged Chinese spy who was banned from Britain on national security grounds.

Meanwhile, Charles and Camilla are set to host the main Christmas festivities at Sandringham, with Queen Camilla’s children, Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes, along with their families, expected to join for the first time.
