Festive season may inspire a reconciliation amid ongoing family tensions
Princess Kate may be preparing to extend a festive olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this Christmas, raising hopes of healing the ongoing family rift, a former royal staffer has suggested.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back as senior royals in 2020, last spent Christmas with the Royal Family in 2018. Tensions have remained heightened, particularly after Harry and William refrained from jointly supporting the recent Diana Award, instead offering separate acknowledgements.
While rumours persist that Harry and Meghan will spend the holidays in Montecito, California, reports claim they were not invited to Sandringham this year. Former royal butler Grant Harrold believes Princess Kate could take the opportunity to reconnect, suggesting a gesture such as a FaceTime call could pave the way for reconciliation.
“Christmas is all about goodwill, letting bygones be bygones, and moving into the new year with a fresh start,” Harrold remarked. He added, “There’s something magical about Christmas that brings families back together.”
Although no official plans have been confirmed, the festive season offers a hopeful chance for the Sussexes and the Princess of Wales to rebuild bridges and start anew.
