Prince Harry Delivers Powerful Message After Solo New York Appearance

Duke of Sussex Addresses Media Accountability and Mental Health Challenges

Prince Harry made a strong statement during his solo appearance at the New York Times’ annual DealBook Summit, where he candidly discussed media scrutiny, mental health, and societal challenges.

In a one-on-one interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin on Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex shared insights from his upbringing in the royal family and his life in the US with Meghan Markle. Following the summit, Harry issued a message through the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, addressing critical issues.

“We have elements of the mainstream media trying to redefine public interest for their own personal interest, and at the same time, we have social media companies trying to redefine free speech for their own personal interests. What fascinates me is that this is not a conflict of interest,” the statement read.

Harry expressed his determination to raise awareness and drive change around “global challenges of a broken information landscape, mental health, and both media and tech accountability.” He emphasised his mission to “spark meaningful conversations that lead to lasting, positive change for individuals and society as a whole.”

During the event, Harry also addressed ongoing rumours about his relationship with Meghan Markle, humorously debunking claims of multiple divorces and house purchases. “Apparently, we've bought or moved house 10, 12 times. We’ve apparently divorced maybe 10, 12 times as well. So, it’s just like, what?” he quipped.

While Meghan attended a separate gala in Beverly Hills, Harry’s appearance underscored his commitment to tackling systemic challenges and fostering solutions for a better, more informed society.
