Queen Camilla Joins Monty Don for Touching Tribute at Chelsea Flower Show

Beloved pets honoured in Monty Don’s groundbreaking dog-friendly garden design

Queen Camilla has held a private meeting with BBC Gardeners’ World star Monty Don ahead of his debut garden design at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, which will include a heartfelt tribute to her cherished Jack Russell Terriers, Bluebell and the late Beth.

In a departure from tradition, Monty’s garden will embrace a dog-friendly theme, breaking the Royal Horticultural Society’s usual ban on animals at the event (except guide dogs). His design will feature a serene meadow, lush lawn, charming summerhouse, and inscribed brick paths honouring beloved pets, including Camilla’s Jack Russells.

Beth, who passed away after being diagnosed with an inoperable tumour, was a constant companion to the Queen since her adoption in 2011 from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. The tribute becomes all the more poignant with her name included, alongside Bluebell’s, on the garden’s path.

Buckingham Palace previously shared a moving tribute following Beth’s passing, highlighting the joy she brought to the Queen’s life. Camilla, a patron of Battersea, had previously visited the shelter with Beth, sharing heartwarming moments that underscored their bond.

Monty’s garden also honours his own dog, Ned, alongside pets of other notable figures. This deeply personal and innovative design promises to be a highlight of the Chelsea Flower Show, merging heartfelt tributes with a revolutionary dog-friendly approach.
