Sarah Ferguson Expresses Support for Queen Camilla, Ready for Active Royal Role

Duchess of York highlights bond with Camilla and reflects on her place in the monarchy

Sarah Ferguson has shared her admiration for Queen Camilla and expressed a renewed desire to support the Royal Family during a candid interview with The Times.

The Duchess of York, 65, opened up about her longstanding bond with Camilla, revealing it stems from their shared history. “Queen Camilla was close friends with Mum, which is why we’re so close now,” she explained.

Ferguson, who married Prince Andrew in 1986 before their divorce a decade later, reflected on her deep connection with the late Princess Diana, saying, “Diana was my best friend from the age of 14. That’s why it’s so big that the Queen and I get on now.”

In the interview, she praised Queen Camilla’s “extraordinary support” for the country, drawing comparisons to the late Diana and highlighting the strength Camilla brings to her role.

Eager to contribute more, the Duchess made a heartfelt plea to King Charles and Queen Camilla: “I want to do as much for the Queen as possible. I wish they’d ask me to do more.”

Sarah also spoke fondly of her close relationship with Queen Elizabeth II, sharing how the late monarch’s lifelong connection with her mother fostered a special bond. “Queen Elizabeth and I got on so well. My mum was her close friend, so she knew me all my life and she loved me,” she said.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Sarah Ferguson appears ready to embrace a more active and supportive role within the Royal Family under the reign of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
