Buckingham Palace Finally Acknowledges Harry’s Invictus Games

King Charles Makes Surprise Visit to Initiative Linked to Duke of Sussex

Buckingham Palace has subtly recognised Harry’s Invictus Games as King Charles made a surprise visit to a significant initiative closely connected to his son’s work.

Just days after Harry wrapped up the latest Invictus Games in Canada, King Charles visited the Centre for Injury Studies at Imperial College London. The Duke of Sussex had inaugurated the centre in 2013, making the King’s visit particularly noteworthy.

Although there was no formal acknowledgment of the Games, Buckingham Palace shared photos of the King’s visit on social media, along with the caption:

“The King has visited the Centre for Injury Studies at @ImperialCollege London, highlighting the vital research that takes place here.”

The statement continued:

“His Majesty heard how Imperial applies lessons learned from previous conflicts, including in Afghanistan and Iraq, to support the wounded in Ukraine.”

The Centre for Injury Studies plays a crucial role in uniting engineers, scientists, and clinicians to develop innovative approaches for diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating patients after traumatic injuries.

During his visit, King Charles engaged in conversation with David Henson, a former Army captain and para-sports athlete who shares a close connection with Harry, having participated in the Invictus Games.

The King’s visit, coming two years after Harry last attended the centre, is being seen by many as a quiet yet significant nod to his son’s ongoing efforts, hinting at a potential thaw in their strained relationship.
