King Charles Issues Emotional Statement After Vancouver Tragedy

Monarch mourns victims of festival attack days after honouring Pope Francis' passing

King Charles has released a heartfelt statement following a tragic attack at a Filipino community festival in Vancouver.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King and Queen Camilla were "profoundly saddened" by the devastating events at the Lapu Lapu festival, where several lives were lost.

In his message, the King said, "Both my wife and I were profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful attack and utterly tragic loss of life in Vancouver, which took place as the Filipino community came together to mark the celebration of one of their most special festivals."

He added, "Our hearts and prayers go out to all those whose lives have been shattered by such a desperate tragedy, and we send our deepest possible sympathy at a most agonising time for so many in Canada. Charles R."

According to the BBC, at least nine people were killed when a man drove an SUV into a crowd attending the event. The number of injured remains unconfirmed.

The King's message of condolence comes just days after he publicly mourned the passing of Pope Francis, marking a period of deep sorrow for the monarch.
