Appointment of former aide Jason Knauf reignites tensions between royal brothers
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be reeling after Prince William’s latest decision, which has reportedly dealt a significant blow to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Earlier this month, the Prince of Wales appointed Jason Knauf — the former communications secretary for both couples — as the new chief executive of the Earthshot Prize.
Writing for The Daily Mail via The Express on 24 April, Richard Eden claimed, “William’s decision to hand Knauf such an important role will no doubt horrify Harry and Meghan.”
Although William is believed to maintain a strong relationship with Knauf, tensions between Knauf and the Sussexes escalated following their royal departure.
In 2018, Knauf raised concerns in an email to William’s then-private secretary, alleging Meghan's behaviour towards palace staff. "I am very concerned that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year. The treatment of X was totally unacceptable," he wrote.
The leak of the email triggered a wave of backlash against Meghan and led to an internal Buckingham Palace investigation. Meghan has consistently denied the bullying allegations, but the incident left a lasting mark on her reputation.
