Tina Brown reveals Duke of Sussex "misses being a prince" but future with monarchy looks closed
Prince Harry may never return to royal duties, despite reportedly missing his former life, according to royal expert and Princess Diana’s friend, Tina Brown.
Speaking in a new interview, Brown shared insights into the Duke of Sussex’s struggle with life away from the monarchy. Although Harry currently lives in Montecito with Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, Brown suggested he still yearns for the role he left behind.
"The relationship between the brothers sounds like it’s very hard to repair. I think Harry would make it up, but I don’t think William can," Brown said, casting doubt on any future royal return.
She praised Harry’s natural ability for royal duties, describing him as "the most talented in the family at human relations, like his mother," Princess Diana. Brown explained, "He really knows how to play the role of the prince. I think he really likes it. That’s what’s so ironic."
Reflecting on Harry's decision to leave, Brown noted: "For a bit he thought he didn’t [like royal life] because the palace is boring and oppressive. Now he’s had a few years without it, I think he really misses being a prince because he was good at it."
Brown also suggested that Harry and Meghan’s efforts to "do good" might have been more impactful had they remained royal, citing Princess Diana’s iconic gesture of shaking hands with an AIDS patient as an example of the unique power royals hold in influencing change.
