Royal sisters reflect on family bonds and life lessons from their mother
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have opened up about how their mother, Sarah Ferguson, helped heal an early rift in their relationship and taught them the value of emotional growth and resolution.
Appearing on Cressida Bonas’s podcast Lessons From Our Mothers, the daughters of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew reminisced about their childhood, offering insight into their family dynamics and the key role their mother played in shaping their bond.
The sisters shared a story about a childhood squabble over a pair of pink Converse trainers. Beatrice, now 36, described it as “a big fight” over who the shoes belonged to. “Mum just jumped into that fight and was like, ‘Come on, you can do it!’” she recalled.
Beatrice reflected on how that moment turned into a life lesson: “It’s OK to feel, it’s OK to push on those emotions, but you have to figure out what the resolution looks like as well. She was very resolution-driven.”
Later in the episode, Eugenie praised her mother’s unwavering support during her own childhood health challenges, highlighting Sarah Ferguson’s strength and deep compassion as a mother.
Their heartfelt recollections painted a picture of a supportive upbringing guided by a mother who valued empathy, emotional honesty, and lasting family connection.
