Queen’s granddaughter recalls humorous moment at solemn tribute for Queen Elizabeth II
Zara Tindall has shared a candid and light-hearted memory involving Prince Harry during one of the most emotional royal events — the vigil for Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Hall.
Speaking at a £210-a-head Sporting Club charity dinner in London, the Olympic equestrian and daughter of Princess Anne revealed she faced a wardrobe mishap at the historic gathering.
“Did you see my shoe fell off? The heels I was wearing for the vigil?” she recalled to guests, adding, “We were walking out, my shoes were a little big and my shoes came off. William was in front of me and my brother was beside me.”
Caught in the moment, Zara admitted she briefly considered letting Prince Harry retrieve the runaway heel. “I went up the next step and I was like, ‘Shall I pick it up… or shall I leave Harry to pick it up?’ So I picked it up quick and walked in.”
She added that Prince William also noticed the fumble: “I was like, ‘I have lost my shoe!’”
Zara’s light-hearted story delighted attendees, showing her signature humour even while reflecting on a moment of national mourning. She is now preparing to celebrate her 44th birthday with husband Mike Tindall and their three children: Mia, 11, Lena, 6, and Lucas, 4.
