Critics Question Duke’s Judgment Days After Explosive UK Protection Interview
Just days after Prince Harry’s explosive interview criticizing the UK’s decision to deny him royal security, a former royal protection officer has pointed to a glaring contradiction in the Duke’s conduct.
Ken Wharfe, who once served as Princess Diana’s bodyguard, has spoken out about what he views as a serious lapse in judgment on Harry’s part. Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Wharfe referenced a 2023 incident in which Harry reportedly attended a lavish party hosted by Lord Charles Vivian, where he allowed a Deliveroo driver to approach the property without security clearance.
“It’s unbelievable that such a high-profile person, who considers themself to be such a high-security risk, would allow a food delivery to go unchecked,” Wharfe said. “If he is still able to go to friends’ houses and allow Deliveroo to turn up at the door and then have the audacity to moan about his lack of security—that is a very unintelligent thing to do.”
This criticism comes just after Harry sat down with the BBC to express his disappointment over losing his Court of Appeal challenge against the Home Office. The Duke claimed that removing his security in 2020 not only left him vulnerable in the UK but sent a signal to governments worldwide that he and his family were unprotected.
He further stated, “This all comes from the same institutions that preyed upon my mother… and that continue to incite hatred towards me, my wife and even our children.”
While Harry continues to argue that the safety of his family is at risk, critics like Wharfe say his personal actions may be undermining that argument—raising further questions about the consistency of his public and private choices.
