Former royal aide defends Duke’s unwavering loyalty as shocking claims swirl
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship is once again under the microscope, with new speculation questioning the stability of their marriage — and whether the Duke’s enduring loyalty might be viewed by some as a vulnerability.
While the couple appear to be enjoying their life in California with their two children, a growing narrative in the media suggests Meghan could one day walk away, leaving behind a husband who is, as some claim, “blindly in love.”
In response to the renewed scrutiny, Grant Harrold — who served as King Charles’s butler for seven years — defended Prince Harry’s character and devotion. Speaking to Showbiz Cheat Sheet on behalf of Slingo, Harrold said the criticism is misplaced.
“Harry always gives it his all and puts everything into his relationships. He’s very much a gentleman… very old school, very caring, very supportive,” he said.
Harrold added that the Duke’s deep support for Meghan isn’t unusual or out of character.
“That’s what he does. He supports — and he’s always been like that,” he noted, emphasizing that Meghan, as his wife, naturally receives even more of that loyalty.
The renewed interest in Harry’s romantic history has also reignited conversations about his past relationships. His most publicised exes, Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, both reportedly struggled with life in the royal spotlight — a pressure Harry himself addressed in his memoir Spare, acknowledging the emotional toll it took on the women he loved.
Now, as the Sussexes continue their life away from the institution that shaped Harry's upbringing, public speculation about their marriage persists — but those close to the prince insist his steadfast support of Meghan is not a sign of weakness, but a reflection of his enduring personal values.
