King Charles Faces Backlash Over Neglected Childhood Home of Princess Diana

Park House Falls Into Disrepair Just Steps from Pristine Sandringham Estate

King Charles has come under criticism following revelations that Princess Diana’s childhood home, Park House, has fallen into disrepair—despite its location just 500 metres from his impeccably maintained Sandringham House.

Diana, the late mother of Prince William and Prince Harry, was born and raised at Park House on the Royal Family’s Norfolk estate in 1961. Once a stately residence, the property now shows visible signs of neglect, including peeling window paint, stained bricks, and overgrown grass, as revealed in recent images published by The Mirror.

The condition of the house has sparked concern among locals, with one neighbour accusing the monarch of failing to honour Diana’s legacy: “It’s heartbreaking to learn how the house has been left. It’s really sad.”

Though Park House was operated for years by the Leonard Cheshire charity as a care facility, it was handed back to the estate in May 2021 due to financial difficulties following the pandemic. Since then, it appears to have been left largely untouched.

Adding to the emotional weight of the matter, the house sits near the Church of St Mary Magdalene—where the Royal Family traditionally gathers for the Christmas Day service—serving as a stark reminder of Diana’s once-central place in royal history.

As Sandringham House remains a symbol of royal prestige, the decline of Park House is being viewed by some as a painful symbol of neglect toward the legacy of the "People's Princess."
