Monarch opens up about his health journey after Prince Harry's controversial remarks
King Charles III has offered a rare and personal glimpse into his ongoing cancer treatment while attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace alongside Queen Camilla.
During the event, held in honour of workers in the education and skills sector, the monarch spoke with 22-year-old cancer patient Stamford Collis, an international relations student. In their candid exchange, Charles offered gentle advice and revealed a detail from his own treatment journey.
“He was asking me about the treatment I have starting in June and spoke to me about food and diet,” Collis said, noting that the King also asked if he had undergone radiation. In response, Charles shared, “It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help.”
This public acknowledgment comes as the King continues to receive weekly treatment following his diagnosis in February 2024. His openness follows backlash over Prince Harry’s recent BBC interview, in which the Duke of Sussex commented, “I don’t know how much longer my father has,” prompting criticism for the timing and tone of his words.
Despite the tension, the Palace has maintained that King Charles is responding well to treatment and remains actively engaged in his royal duties.
