Duke reportedly upset as Duchess shares rare image of Archie and Lilibet following fresh security setback
Prince Harry is said to be unsettled after Meghan Markle shared a rare photo of their children, Archie and Lilibet, shortly after his latest legal defeat over security protection in the UK.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who recently marked their seventh wedding anniversary, have long prioritised privacy for their two children. Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, the couple have largely avoided showing their children’s faces in public, citing ongoing security concerns.
However, Meghan’s recent social media post—featuring a never-before-seen image of Archie kissing Lilibet on the forehead beside a Christmas tree—has prompted speculation of conflicting priorities between the pair. The release comes in the wake of Harry’s third failed attempt to secure police protection in the UK, after which he emotionally stated he could not imagine bringing his family back under current circumstances.
“Harry and Meghan have gone to great lengths to protect the kids,” a source close to the family said. “It’s just a bit odd that photos are starting to come out now, when they are more recognisable.”
The insider hinted that Meghan’s decision may have been attention-driven, adding, “If they weren’t [in the photo], would anyone be interested? Harry is all about protecting his kids, so I can’t imagine he will be happy with this.”
While the Sussexes appear united publicly, the Duchess’s choice to share the image suggests differing views on how their children should be presented to the world amid growing public interest and personal security challenges.
