Duke of Sussex Speaks of Forgiveness and Family Healing in Wake of Legal Blow
Prince Harry has shown a shift toward reconciliation, extending an olive branch to Queen Camilla and other senior royals during a revealing interview, following his recent legal defeat over UK security protections.
The Duke of Sussex, who lost his Court of Appeal challenge against the Home Office’s decision to deny him publicly funded protection, appeared vulnerable and reflective as he opened up to the BBC about his strained ties with the Royal Family.
“There are things that happened in 2016 especially, I can now forgive,” Harry shared. “I have moved past that. I can forgive my family's involvement—my father's, my brother, my stepmother.”
While expressing a desire to move forward, he admitted he still struggles to forgive the 2020 decision that removed his security. “It affects my every single day and is knowingly putting me and my family in harm’s way,” he said.
The comments represent a notable softening of tone toward Queen Camilla, whom Harry had previously accused of leaking private family details—a claim he made in a 2023 ITV interview. The Telegraph later reported it was Camilla’s assistant who was behind the leak and was dismissed.
In his memoir Spare, Harry also wrote that his father and Camilla’s press team threw him “under the bus” to protect their own image. Despite these past grievances, his latest remarks point to a man intent on finding peace and healing old wounds.
Harry’s tone suggests not just a personal step toward closure, but a hopeful sign for future reconciliation—for the sake of his children, his marriage, and the legacy of a deeply divided royal family.
