Duchess Sophie Set to Attend Windsor Event Honoring Women Following Return from Scotland

Buckingham Palace confirms the Duchess of Edinburgh will represent the King at Afternoon Tea celebrating female achievers

After returning from a royal tour of Scotland alongside her husband Prince Edward, the Duchess of Edinburgh is resuming her solo duties with renewed focus.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that on Monday, Sophie will attend an Afternoon Tea celebrating Women of Distinction at the Castle Hotel, located opposite Windsor Castle. The event recognises outstanding achievements by women across various fields.

During the engagement, the Duchess is expected to meet with the honourees and deliver a speech highlighting their contributions.

Sophie and Edward recently visited the Inner Hebrides to better understand life in remote island communities. Their trip was part of a broader effort to represent the monarchy in Scotland.

Over the past year, the Duchess has taken on a more prominent role within the royal family, particularly following King Charles’s cancer diagnosis. She has carried out multiple solo assignments on the King’s behalf, including a historic visit to Ukraine.

Praised for her discretion and dedication, Sophie has been informally referred to as the monarchy’s “secret weapon,” with the King reportedly recognising her loyalty with well-deserved honours.
