The Folly Opens for Exclusive Bookings Weeks After Unexpected Shutdown
King Charles has given his blessing to a fresh chapter at Sandringham Estate, just weeks after the royal property was temporarily closed to the public due to an emergency.
The monarch has approved the opening of The Folly, a picturesque woodland retreat nestled within the private grounds of Sandringham. This unique, turreted property, described as “steeped in royal history,” is now available for summer rentals—a move only made possible with the King’s personal permission, according to Country Life.
Rental company founder Oliver Bell said, “We’ve always championed holidays that are a little out of the ordinary. With a portfolio full of heritage-rich and characterful homes, The Folly is a natural fit. This property isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience steeped in history, comfort, and quiet grandeur. We’re excited to open the doors to such a unique retreat and can’t wait to see the stories that unfold here.”
Surrounded by ancient woodland, The Folly can accommodate up to six guests, with a minimum stay of three nights. The experience, however, comes with a premium price tag, starting from £3,000.
This announcement comes after Sandringham Estate was forced to shut its doors last month due to an emergency plumbing issue, which affected the main house, gardens, restaurant, and courtyard facilities in Norfolk. Now, with repairs completed, the estate is once again ready to welcome guests—offering a rare chance to experience royal heritage firsthand.
