Meghan Markle has opened up about her parenting approach and shared fresh insights into her evolving lifestyle brand, as a previously unknown collaboration request from the late celebrity chef Anne Burrell has come to light.
Burrell, widely known for hosting Worst Cooks in America across 27 seasons, tragically passed away at the age of 55. But just two months before her death, she had expressed excitement about the idea of appearing on Meghan’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
In an April interview, when asked if she’d be open to collaborating with the Duchess of Sussex, Burrell replied with her signature humor: “Sure, of course. I’d go to the opening of an envelope. Why not cook with Meghan?” While she was enthusiastic about the potential appearance, she also added with a laugh, “I’m not really a jam girl,” in reference to Meghan’s popular jam from her As Ever lifestyle brand.
With Love, Meghan debuted earlier this year and featured high-profile culinary guests including Roy Choi and Alice Waters. In March, Netflix confirmed the show had been renewed for a second season, which has already been filmed and will feature Chrissy Teigen and José Andrés.
In a recent interview promoting her projects, Meghan spoke about how she’s trying to raise her children, Archie and Lilibet, to be kind and curious about the world. Though she didn’t mention Burrell directly, the resurfaced interview has added a poignant note to the buzz around her growing media presence.
Burrell’s family confirmed her passing in a heartfelt statement: “Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
While the collaboration sadly never came to fruition, Burrell’s enthusiastic support for Meghan’s venture serves as a reminder of the late chef’s warmth and influence—and the wide-reaching appeal of Meghan’s lifestyle vision.
