Duke's Remark on 'Living by Truth' Sparks Speculation of Renewed Royal Tensions
The Duke of Sussex made a solo appearance at the 2025 NEXUS Global Summit in New York City on Friday, where he reflected on a guiding principle that he says has deeply shaped his life—one he credits to Meghan Markle.
Speaking before an audience of young philanthropists and investors, Harry highlighted the value of authenticity and truth. “My wife said to me very early on in our relationship, ‘If you live your life by truth, it's the most efficient way to live,’” he shared. “It’s something she’s lived by for a long time, and now I do too.”
He continued, “We will continue to live our life by truth, and we will continue to stand up for what we believe in—the difference between right and wrong.”
The Duke also reiterated past remarks about Meghan, describing her as “the most trolled person in the world,” underscoring the couple’s ongoing concerns with media scrutiny.
His emphasis on truth prompted renewed speculation about unresolved tensions with the Royal Family. The comments appeared to echo grievances raised in their 2022 Netflix series, where Harry claimed that palace insiders "were happy to lie to protect my brother" but "never willing to tell the truth to protect us."
Meghan, too, has alluded to her dissatisfaction with how she was portrayed during her time as a working royal. Speaking recently on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, she suggested that misinformation still clouds public perception, though she refrained from detailing what she might have done differently.
