Duke’s Plan to Reunite with King and Prince William Hints at Possible Reconciliation
Although still estranged from King Charles and Prince William, Prince Harry appears ready to thaw the royal freeze, signalling a desire to repair fractured family ties.
As reported by The Mail on Sunday, the Duke of Sussex is planning to invite King Charles and other senior royals to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. The international sporting event, founded by Harry in 2014, could offer a high-profile setting for reconciliation.
Sources close to the matter describe the invitation as an 'olive branch', one that could prompt renewed dialogue between the Sussexes and the wider Royal Family.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told the Express that the invitation could be a meaningful gesture—though not without complications. “It has been reported that the King, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William will be invited to the Games,” he said, recalling their attendance at the inaugural 2014 ceremony.
He dismissed concerns about Queen Camilla’s 80th birthday coinciding with the event’s finale, stating, “That seems irrelevant.”
Fitzwilliams added, “This invitation, expected to be sent shortly, will undoubtedly be seen as a significant move by the Sussexes to bridge the gap and ease longstanding family tensions.”
Whether the invitation will be accepted remains to be seen—but for now, Harry’s gesture has clearly placed the monarch in a delicate position.
