Future King no match for Catherine and Charlotte’s love of spice
Prince William may lead with confidence in public life, but at the dinner table, it’s Princess Charlotte and Catherine who bring the heat — literally.
While attending an event during London Climate Action Week, the Prince of Wales received a jar of chilli oil from Jennifer Lasimbang, a former lawmaker from Borneo. Grinning, William joked, “That looks very spicy, I imagine that’s very hot. I look forward to trying that — maybe this one delicately,” humorously acknowledging his well-known struggle with strong spices.
In contrast, both Catherine and their daughter Charlotte are known for embracing bolder flavors, especially when it comes to Indian cuisine. Back in 2019, ahead of a royal tour of Pakistan, Catherine shared that Charlotte, just six at the time, was already “pretty good with heat.” She even admitted to cooking different versions of curry at home — a milder dish for William, and spicier portions for herself and the children.
Now four years on, Charlotte’s love of spice has likely grown stronger, perhaps even challenging her mum’s impressive tolerance. While William continues to tread lightly when it comes to fiery foods, his family's taste for bold flavors is clearly thriving — led by two of the most daring eaters in the royal household.
