Royal follows Duchess Sophie’s lead in uplifting female voices on the global stage
Prince William has issued a stirring tribute to female wildlife rangers, taking a significant step that echoes Duchess Sophie's longstanding advocacy for women's empowerment.
The Prince of Wales spotlighted these frontline defenders in the latest episode of his Guardians series, which celebrates the courageous efforts of wildlife protectors around the world. In this installment, he focused on an all-women team operating in the Amazon rainforest, hailing them as modern-day "guerreiras" — warriors safeguarding both nature and culture.
“These brave women are standing firm for their people, their land and a way of life passed down through generations,” William said, recognising their resilience in the face of threats like illegal logging, poaching, and environmental destruction.
The series, available via BBC Earth's YouTube channel, continues William’s deep commitment to conservation and environmental protection. According to a Kensington Palace spokesperson, Guardians “reflects a cause deeply close to The Prince of Wales’s heart: protecting the natural world by supporting those who safeguard it every day.”
This public support for women on the conservation frontlines strongly aligns with Duchess Sophie's dedication to gender equality and women's rights, making William’s latest move not only environmentally significant but socially resonant as well.
