Royal expresses support for Lions as Princess Catherine steps back to focus on health
Prince William shared his enthusiasm for a major sporting event as the Princess of Wales continues to pace her return to public life.
On Friday, 20 June, the Prince of Wales posted a message on Instagram ahead of the British and Irish Lions’ opening match against Argentina in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. “Good luck to Andy and the whole @britishandirishlions squad as they kick off the 2025 Tour tonight against Argentina in Dublin,” he wrote, adding, “Lions Tours are always special – the history books await!” The message was signed with a “W,” indicating it was personally written by the Prince.
The post follows a busy period for the royal couple, who recently made joint appearances at Trooping the Colour and Garter Day. However, Princess Catherine has since scaled back her public engagements, raising questions about her health.
Palace sources confirmed she is “continuing to balance her return to public life” after announcing her cancer remission earlier this year. The Princess remains focused on a cautious and steady recovery.
