Future king expected to attend Eton as Palace backs continuity over personal preference
Prince William and Catherine have reportedly reached a final decision regarding Prince George’s future education, easing internal tensions over a matter seen as significant for the monarchy's image.
After two years of private discussions, the couple are believed to have chosen Eton College—William’s own alma mater—for their eldest son, despite Catherine’s reported preference for her former school, Marlborough College.
According to Daily Mail’s Harriet Kean, Eton insiders are already anticipating an announcement, with one source hinting at quiet confidence: “It was like, ‘I know something and the people at Eton know something, but I’m not going to tell you.’”
The choice brings a sense of relief to Palace aides, who viewed the decision as symbolic—not just for Prince George’s education, but for the future of the Crown itself.
George, who turns 12 next month, remains at Lambrook School in Berkshire alongside his younger siblings, and is not expected to start at Eton until September 2026.
The move is seen as a return to tradition, reinforcing continuity in the royal lineage at a time when the monarchy is navigating a period of transition and modernisation.
