Buckingham Palace Shares Key Details from King Charles III’s Youth-Focused Summit

Monarch meets with young leaders and Idris Elba to address youth violence and promote creative opportunities

Buckingham Palace has released new details from King Charles III’s latest engagement, highlighting a meaningful summit held at St James’s Palace focused on empowering young people and tackling serious youth violence across the UK.

Photos from the event were shared on the royal family’s official social media account, showing the 76-year-old monarch alongside youth organisations, government ministers, and acclaimed actor and King’s Trust alumnus Idris Elba.

“King’s Trust alumnus @IdrisElba for a Youth Opportunity Summit at St James’s Palace,” the Palace captioned the photos.

The statement revealed that His Majesty listened to discussions surrounding the need for positive, constructive opportunities for young people affected by youth violence. The event built on the momentum of last year’s summit, with updates on key initiatives launched in its wake.

Among them was the Creative Futures programme — a collaboration between The King’s Trust and the Elba Hope Foundation — which aims to inspire young minds through the arts and help them develop vital skills and confidence.

King Charles also learned about Elba’s anti-knife crime campaign, launched in 2024, which seeks to amplify the voices of communities most affected by violence and promote solutions through advocacy and community leadership.

The Palace’s latest update reinforces the monarch’s long-standing commitment to youth causes and social development, particularly through The King’s Trust — one of the UK’s leading charitable organisations for young people.
