King Charles’ Team Shares Gentle Reminder About Royal Residence Closure

Sandringham House to temporarily shut its doors amid rising curiosity from visitors

Weeks after a surprise announcement regarding one of King Charles III's beloved estates, the royal team has issued a polite reminder: Sandringham House and Gardens will be closed to the public from Saturday, July 20 to Tuesday, July 29.

The notice, shared via Sandringham House's official Instagram, did not offer any further explanation for the closure, originally announced earlier this month. The brief message read: “A friendly reminder that Sandringham House and Gardens will be closed for visits from this Sunday, 20th July, to Tuesday, 29th July.”

While the main house and gardens will be temporarily off-limits, the rest of the estate—including the on-site restaurant, gift shop, and surrounding parkland—will remain open, providing some relief for eager summer tourists.

The timing has stirred public curiosity, as July is peak season for royal tourism. Sandringham House typically welcomes guests daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering access to eight of its opulent state rooms. Entry fees begin at £25 for the full house and garden experience, while garden-only admission is priced at £15.

Although the reason for the closure remains undisclosed, the friendly tone of the reminder suggests the pause is temporary—and possibly for private royal use or scheduled maintenance. For now, royal watchers and visitors will have to enjoy the estate's other offerings until the grand doors reopen.
