Meghan Markle Nears New Netflix Deal After Initial Setback

Streaming giant reopens talks as Duchess's show delivers key viewership milestone

Meghan Markle is reportedly back in high-level negotiations with Netflix, just weeks before her original multimillion-dollar deal with the platform is set to expire.

Earlier reports suggested the streaming giant had decided not to renew its agreement with the Sussexes, citing lackluster performance and growing frustration behind the scenes. Insiders claimed executives were “mildly infuriated” that Meghan was prioritising her lifestyle brand As Ever over content development, and believed they had “got all they can from the couple.”

But now, according to the Mail on Sunday, the deal may not be over after all.

“Make no mistake – a deal is being worked through as we speak,” a source close to Netflix confirmed. While the new agreement may come with a lower price tag, it reflects a renewed willingness to continue the partnership.

A major factor in the reversal appears to be the performance of With Love, Meghan, a docuseries launched by the Duchess earlier this year. Despite being labeled “bland” and “forgettable” by critics, the series pulled in 5.3 million views in the first half of 2025—placing it in the top third of Netflix's content rankings.

That alone, insiders say, is enough to keep Meghan in the game. “If you're in the top third of Netflix, you're getting another deal,” the source added. The second season of the show, already in the works, is expected to be the first to air under the new arrangement, with a release planned for this fall.

As talks continue, the finer details remain strictly confidential. “When both sides are in a commercial negotiation, they are legally not allowed to speak publicly about it,” the insider explained.

Still, the likelihood of a renewed contract seems strong. Netflix holds equity in Meghan's As Ever brand, making a clean break impractical. “It serves them to promote her and her lifestyle brand via the With Love, Meghan show,” the source said. “It would be like punching yourself in the face not to sign a new deal.”

While nothing is officially confirmed, all signs point to Meghan Markle securing a second chance with Netflix — albeit under tighter terms and heightened expectations.
