Future king praises England’s journey and offers words of support before the big match
Prince William has delivered a rousing message to the Lionesses as they prepare to face Spain in the Women's Euros final on Sunday evening.
With England set for a dramatic rematch against the reigning world champions, the Prince of Wales shared his pride in the team's resilience and spirit throughout the tournament.
“Good luck to the Lionesses tomorrow,” he wrote. “The nation is so proud you are through to the final, after some stunning comebacks!”
I closed the message with a supportive, “We are all cheering you on!” and signed it simply with “W,” a personal touch showing the message came straight from him.
Sunday's final will take place in Basel, Switzerland—setting the stage for what could be a historic moment in English football. As President of the Football Association, William is expected to attend the match in person to cheer on the team.
Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed whether Princess Catherine or her children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—will also be in attendance at St Jakob Park, or if other royal family members will join the future king.
With royal encouragement and national pride behind them, the Lionesses head into the final with the hopes of a country—and its future monarch—riding on their shoulders.
