Wales family considers new Windsor residence amid growing royal roles and shift toward the throne
Prince William and Catherine are reportedly preparing for a significant change in their family life as they continue to step closer to the throne. The Prince and Princess of Wales, currently residing in the modest Adelaide Cottage with their children, are now considering a move to a more spacious royal residence.
As their eldest child, Prince George, celebrates his 12th birthday, royal protocols are beginning to shift. His transition into formal training for his future role as monarch has begun, marking a new phase for the Wales household. With Prince William increasingly seen as ready to assume the throne at a moment's notice—especially as King Charles continues his cancer treatment—the couple appears to be preparing for a larger role within the monarchy.
Royal insiders have revealed that the family is exploring the idea of relocating to Fort Belvedere, a secluded and historic estate in Windsor Great Park. The property, which boasts a swimming pool and tennis court, is said to be a perfect fit for the growing family. “They feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial,” one source shared, noting that their daughter enjoys playing tennis.
Although Fort Belvedere is a top contender, a final decision has not yet been made. The family's potential move comes amid ongoing speculation about the future of Royal Lodge, the 30-room estate currently occupied by Prince Andrew. While previous reports suggested that the disgraced duke might be asked to vacate to make way for William and Catherine, he continues to resist pressure to give up his 75-year lease.
Another possibility includes relocating the family into a wing of Windsor Castle, offering proximity to royal duties while accommodating their evolving needs.
As their roles within the monarchy grow and their children enter new chapters, the Wales family appears to be taking decisive steps to prepare for a future that brings them ever closer to the heart of royal life.
