Prince William and Harry’s Uncle Shares Rare Photo on Princess Diana’s Birthday

Charles Spencer posts touching childhood memory amid royal family tensions

On what would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday, her younger brother Charles Spencer honoured her memory by sharing a rare and poignant family photograph.

Taking to social media on July 1, Earl Spencer posted a black-and-white image from 1967 that captured Diana’s 6th birthday celebration. The photo shows a young Diana smiling on top of a camel alongside her brother, while their father, John Spencer, stands nearby.

“Another July 1st, from long ago – 1967, in fact,” Charles captioned the post. “For Diana’s 6th birthday party, my father (standing, left) – to huge excitement – secured the services of Bert the Camel, from Thorney Wildlife Park, in Peterborough.”

The heartfelt post comes at a time when Diana’s sons, Prince William and the Duke of Sussex, remain estranged. Despite their personal rift, both continue to protect and uphold their mother’s legacy through charitable work and tributes on important dates.

Princess Diana, who passed away in a tragic car crash in Paris in 1997, is buried at her family’s Althorp Estate. Born to John Spencer and Frances Shand Kydd, she grew up alongside her brother Charles and sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes.

Though personal ties have frayed, Diana’s enduring memory continues to unite her family — especially on the anniversary of her birth.
