Prince William Gets Hands-On — and Nervous — During Visit to Lionesses Training Camp

Future king jokes about "pressure" as he prepares player kits ahead of UEFA Women’s Euros

Prince William may be well-versed in royal duties, but even he admits to feeling the pressure when stepping into unfamiliar territory. During a surprise visit to St. George’s Park on June 30, the Prince of Wales rolled up his sleeves to help the England Women’s football team ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euros kickoff on July 2.

In his role as President of the Football Association, William joined the Lionesses at England’s national football centre, where he got hands-on preparing a tournament jersey for striker Aggie Beever-Jones. Using a heat press to apply the lettering, the royal quipped, “It’s a lot of pressure,” as he concentrated on the task.

When someone pointed out a small crease in the shirt, William laughed and joked, “Hopefully the letters are already on” the replica kits he received for his own children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The royal also took part in the Made for This Game grassroots session, inspired by the Lionesses’ 2022 triumph. There, he watched local schoolgirls play and chatted with young players and their coaches about the sport’s growing momentum.

After receiving a team update from head coach Sarina Wiegman, William presented the squad with their official tournament shirts and posed for a group photo—ending the day with a personal touch and a reminder that even a future king isn’t above a little kit-room pressure.
