Future king reportedly doubts reconciliation efforts between King Charles and Prince Harry
Prince William is said to be approaching recent reconciliation efforts between King Charles and Prince Harry with skepticism, especially after being excluded from a confidential meeting between their senior aides in London.
According to The Mirror, top representatives from both the monarch and the Duke of Sussex met discreetly at a private club near Clarence House last week. King Charles's communications secretary, Tobyn Andreae, was photographed meeting with Harry's chief spokesperson, Meredith Maines, and UK press lead, Liam Maguire. The informal gathering—now dubbed a “secret peace summit”—reportedly aimed to explore a path forward for the fractured royal relationship.
However, the absence of any involvement from the Prince of Wales has raised concerns about just how united the royal household truly is on the matter. A palace insider claimed William remains reluctant to embrace the process. “William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution, and that the Royal Family can't keep being dragged into the headlines every time there's a new contract to promote,” the source said.
Although King Charles has long been open to reconciling with his youngest son, William reportedly continues to carry deep reservations. The breakdown between the brothers, which began following Harry and Meghan's departure from royal duties, has only worsened in recent years—particularly after the Sussexes' public interviews and the publication of Harry's memoir Spare, in which he levied sharp criticisms at both William and Catherine.
Insiders believe William's lack of trust and unresolved anger makes him the most significant barrier to any meaningful reconciliation. While Charles and Harry's aides appear to be laying the groundwork for improved communication, the future king's silence—and exclusion—suggests healing the royal divide is still far from certain.
