Royal family’s caution was ignored as Harry pressed ahead with life-changing decision
Prince William reportedly raised serious concerns about his younger brother’s swift decision to marry Meghan Markle, a warning that ultimately went unheeded.
According to royal expert Rebecca English, members of the royal family—including the Prince of Wales—had reservations about the pace of Harry’s relationship with the former Suits actress.
Speaking on Palace Confidential, English said, “I know from my own sources that there were strong reservations. The family felt Harry was rushing into this too quickly.”
She added that William directly advised Harry to slow down. “William memorably said to him, ‘Maybe you just need to take a little bit of time to get to know this woman and plan your future more.’”
However, Harry, described as eager to settle down and start a family, disregarded the advice. “He just didn’t want to do that,” English explained.
Harry and Meghan married in 2018 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor. Two years later, they stepped back from royal duties and relocated to the United States, a move that has deepened their rift with the Royal Family.
