Fans of William and Catherine await news on their attendance
Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles and Queen Camilla will lead commemorations for the 80th anniversary of VJ Day at the National Memorial Arboretum on August 15. The event will honor the end of the Second World War in the Pacific and across the world.
The Palace confirmed the King will deliver an audio message on the morning of VJ Day to mark the occasion. The national service, hosted by the Royal British Legion in partnership with the government, will be followed by a reception where the King and Queen will meet Second World War veterans.
Other senior royals will also be present, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. Sophie will meet veteran Jim Wren, who served on HMS Repulse before being captured and held in Sumatra until the war's end. Prince Edward and Sophie will also attend a separate remembrance service at the Scottish National War Memorial in Edinburgh.
It remains unclear whether William and Catherine will take part in public engagements next week, leaving their supporters waiting for confirmation.
