Prince Andrew Loses Royal Favor Under King Charles

Prince Andrew Loses Royal Favor Under King Charles

Late Queen Elizabeth’s support replaced by stricter stance from current monarch

Prince Andrew's standing within the royal family has shifted dramatically since the death of Queen Elizabeth, with King Charles taking a far less sympathetic approach toward his younger brother.

During the late Queen's reign, Andrew reportedly enjoyed generous financial backing, with personal expenses often covered and permission to remain at Royal Lodge in Windsor. By contrast, King Charles has cut financial ties, refused to fund Andrew's lifestyle, and has pushed for his removal from the 30-room residence.

An explosive new biography, The Rise and Fall of the Yorks by Andrew Lownie, claims tensions between Andrew and William have simmered for years, fueled by Andrew's lavish lifestyle, controversial associations, secretive business dealings, and even inappropriate comments about Catherine. The book alleges that William has supported removing both Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, from Royal Lodge, citing neglect of the property's upkeep.

The biography also details the extent of Queen Elizabeth's past support, including funding an annual £32,000 payment for an Indian yogi who stayed at Royal Lodge as Andrew's spiritual advisor. According to the author, King Charles found it “impossible” to evict his brother during the Queen's lifetime, but by 2024 he had withdrawn all financial support, leaving Andrew responsible for his own security and personal costs.

Despite losing his royal duties and funding, Andrew has reportedly resisted all efforts to vacate Royal Lodge.
