How Catherine’s Family Influenced the Move to Windsor

The Wales family plans to make Forest Lodge their permanent home

The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing for a fresh chapter as they leave Adelaide Cottage and move into Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom property in Windsor. Joined by their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, the couple reportedly see the house as their “forever home,” according to The Sun.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk that Catherine’s strong ties to her parents and siblings helped shape the decision. “The move makes perfect sense as Catherine’s parents and siblings live nearby and they are a very close-knit family,” he explained.

The children’s education was also central to the choice. Lambrook School is close to the property, and Eton is thought to be a strong option for George next year. Windsor itself offers the family privacy, security, and access to the countryside they enjoy.

“Forest Lodge, with eight bedrooms and nearby cottages for staff, seems ideal,” Fitzwilliams noted. Reports suggest the Waleses could remain there indefinitely, even when William becomes King, signalling a long-term commitment to Windsor as their family base.
