Kate and William Preparing to Leave Adelaide Cottage?

Palace confirms the Wales family’s big move this year

The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing to close a chapter on their time at Adelaide Cottage as they gear up for a move to Forest Lodge later this year.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that William, Catherine, and their children are set to relocate to the Georgian manor, sparking questions about what will happen to their Windsor home. The family has lived at Adelaide Cottage since 2022, but royal experts suggest it is unlikely to remain in their possession once the transition is complete.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News that the property will most likely be rented out. “I am sure that it will be rented out. It’s important that the monarchy gets as much as it can from rentals,” he explained, noting that William and Catherine already have Kensington Palace, Anmer Hall, Forest Lodge, and eventually Buckingham Palace at their disposal.

The move, however, may not just be about practical arrangements. Fitzwilliams suggested there are personal reasons behind the decision too. He described the family’s time at Adelaide Cottage as “hellish,” recalling that Queen Elizabeth II passed away only weeks after they settled in. More recently, the home became linked with Catherine’s recovery during her cancer battle in 2024.

With Forest Lodge offering a fresh start and more space, the Wales family’s move appears to mark the end of a difficult chapter—and the beginning of a new one.
