King Charles Backs Harry’s Claims from Spare as Angela Kelly Is Cut from Royal Project

Father and son find common ground amid palace reshuffle and ongoing peace talks

King Charles III appears to be aligning himself with Prince Harry in a surprising royal twist — and longtime royal aide Angela Kelly is paying the price.

According to Daily Mail, both the King and the Duke of Sussex have distanced themselves from Kelly, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s trusted dresser of over 20 years. Once a key figure in the royal household, Kelly has now been quietly sidelined — and left out of a major upcoming exhibition.

The fashion-focused showcase, Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, will mark what would have been the Queen’s 100th birthday. But despite Kelly’s decades of styling the monarch, she won’t be involved. Instead, King Charles has appointed art curator Caroline de Guitaut to lead the project, with insiders confirming, “He isn’t a fan” — an unusually shared opinion between the monarch and his youngest son.

In his memoir Spare, Harry described Kelly as “a troublemaker,” alleging she was obstructive about Meghan Markle’s wedding tiara and played palace politics with ease. “She held all the cards,” he wrote, detailing tensions behind the scenes that shaped his view of the royal institution.

Following Queen Elizabeth’s passing in 2022, Kelly was initially allowed to stay in a grace-and-favour residence — but was later, according to reports, “swiftly evicted.” Her absence from the Palace’s most expansive fashion tribute is now being viewed as the final chapter in her royal story.

As King Charles and Prince Harry work through their strained relationship, this shared decision may signal a small but notable step forward — and a rare moment of unity in an otherwise divided royal family.
