King Charles gifted luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan from Bahrain

Coronation present valued at over £400,000 set aside for royal use

More than a year after his coronation, King Charles III is still turning heads with the lavish gifts he received to mark the occasion.

Buckingham Palace has revealed the official list, which includes a striking standout: a Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2 presented by the King of Bahrain. The luxury SUV, worth an estimated £400,000 ($541,000), has been reserved for official use by Charles and Queen Camilla.

Details about the vehicle’s colour and specifications are being kept under wraps, with Rolls-Royce unlikely to confirm them. What is clear, however, is that whenever the Cullinan emerges from the royal mews, it will do so with the quiet authority and prestige expected of a monarch’s car.

To get a sense of what Charles might enjoy behind the wheel, an Audit Supervisor named Charles and his wife, Poppy, who recently welcomed their daughter Darcy, test drove a “Morganite” edition of the SUV in South London. The dusky pink model, with hints of orange, provided a taste of royal-level comfort.

“It’s so quiet and relaxing, I could easily fall asleep in the back,” Poppy remarked, slipping off her shoes on the plush carpet. Her husband agreed, noting how the Cullinan’s suspension smoothed out the bumps of London roads.

Poppy was also struck by the car’s famous Starlight Headliner, a ceiling of pinprick lights that can be customised to mirror the night sky on any chosen date. For King Charles, that could mean reclining under the very stars that shone on his coronation day, May 6, 2023.
