Windsor mansion could cost the couple around £30,000 a month
Prince William and Catherine are preparing to move into their £16 million “forever home,” and the price tag attached to it is raising eyebrows.
The property, an eight-bedroom Georgian mansion, will provide more space for the couple and their three children. It is located just four miles from their current residence, the four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage, but comes with a far steeper cost.
Owned by the Crown Estate, the house has been in royal hands since 1829. Back in 2001, it was listed for £15,000 a month. Property expert Russell Quirk told the Manchester Evening News that today’s rental market in Windsor could easily double that figure. “What was £15,000 a month in 2001 is now probably £30,000 a month,” he explained.
Neighbours near Cranbourne Hall Residential Park, who will soon be living closer to the future King and Queen, have already shared their delight. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward told Hello! that locals see the couple as “wonderful” and “good for the country.”
