Royal expert says Duke risks losing privileges if he refuses to ‘lie low’
The Duke of York has been warned that King Charles’ patience may soon run out, with fresh pressure on him to step back quietly amid ongoing controversies.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond advised Andrew to focus on family life and comply with his brother’s wishes if he hopes to maintain his remaining comforts. “His best course of action is to lie low,” she said, stressing that humility is the one quality he has yet to show.
Andrew recently returned to the spotlight following the release of Andrew Lownie’s book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which revived uncomfortable claims about his past.
Bond suggested that at family gatherings, the Duke should abandon formality and fade into the background rather than insisting on protocol. While she doubted removing his Dukedom would serve much purpose, she noted that he has already lost his military titles, the use of HRH, and financial support, while Charles has also demanded he leave Royal Lodge.
“He has already paid a hefty price,” Bond remarked, though she added sympathy for his daughters, saying this latest wave of allegations must be difficult for them.
