Expert says Sussexes should spotlight causes instead of themselves after Netflix renewal
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be preparing fresh projects for Netflix after securing a renewal of their deal, but a royal commentator has urged them to take a page from the rest of the royal family.
Kinsey Schofield told the Daily Star that the couple “could learn a lot from the Royal Family when it comes to content creation.” She explained that the monarchy has a long history of producing “raw and compelling” projects that highlight important issues while leaving a lasting impact on audiences.
While the Sussexes’ Netflix series Harry & Meghan generated strong viewership despite its controversy, their other projects have struggled to gain attention. By contrast, Schofield pointed to Queen Camilla’s work on domestic abuse and Prince William’s homelessness initiative as examples of how senior royals use their platforms effectively.
“The institution has spent years mastering the balance of revealing just enough to connect with the public while still protecting their privacy and mystique,” she said.
From King Charles to Princess Kate, Schofield noted, senior royals elevate meaningful causes rather than focus on themselves — a formula she believes Harry and Meghan would do well to follow as they plan their next chapter.
