Prince Harry sparks backlash as Netflix considers Diana documentary

Former royal officer slams Duke for fuelling conspiracy theories ahead of 2027 release

Prince Harry is facing a wave of criticism following reports that he and Meghan Markle are planning a Netflix documentary on Princess Diana.

The project, said to be timed for release in 2027 to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death, has already drawn controversy. A former royal protection officer, Dai Davies, blasted the Duke of Sussex for what he sees as irresponsible remarks about his mother’s tragic 1997 car crash in Paris.

Speaking on GB News, Davies accused Harry of “regurgitating nonsense” and fuelling unfounded conspiracy theories. “He comes out with verbal diarrhoea on occasion. He makes me angry,” he said. “As an ex-cop, I pursue the real truth and evidence it. Unfortunately, Harry has a habit of not engaging that brain, if indeed he has one.”

According to The Sun, the Sussexes pitched several ideas to Netflix, but insiders say the Diana documentary has received the strongest backing from executives, who reportedly view it as a major draw for global audiences.

If approved, the film could reignite tensions between Harry and the royal family, with critics already warning it risks deepening divides at a time when reconciliation remains fragile.
