Elderly neighbours relocated as Forest Lodge prepares for royal arrival
Prince William and Princess Kate are preparing to settle into a new home in Windsor Great Park by Christmas, but their move has already prompted sweeping security changes.
Kensington Palace confirmed that the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, will soon relocate to Forest Lodge — an eight-bedroom residence where they will pay market rent, according to The Mirror.
However, the transition hasn’t come without disruption. Elderly neighbours living in nearby cottages have been asked to move to make way for new police housing and enhanced security around the property.
“The occupants of the cottages were both elderly pensioners and have been found homes elsewhere on the estate,” a source told the Daily Mail. One of those asked to move is said to be a retired cardiologist in his eighties who once practised on Harley Street and at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough.
The cottages will now be converted into police houses to ensure round-the-clock protection for the Wales family, given the exposed layout of the area.
The update comes as the family was spotted attending a church service in Balmoral during their summer stay in Scotland.
