Meghan Markle praised for her vision as With Love, Meghan faces backlash in the UK
Meghan Markle’s new series may not have won over everyone in Britain, but she has found an outspoken defender in one of Harry’s longtime friends.
The second season of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix cooking and lifestyle show, has now been released. While the programme has drawn sharp criticism from some in the UK, Alex Rayner, who joined Harry on a charity trek to the North Pole in 2012, believes the backlash says more about the audience than the show.
Calling Britons “too cynical,” Rayner argued that the series was designed with an American audience in mind. “We’re about old Mrs Miggins over the Aga doing her marmalade,” he said. “Whereas, in America, they want a bit more glamour. They want a bit more.”
Rayner also praised Meghan’s wider business efforts, especially her lifestyle brand As Ever, describing it as “absolutely fantastic.” He noted that Meghan’s focus on sustainable, farm-to-table practices echoes both Harry and King Charles’s passions.
“People pillory her, but there’s a lot of support and real appetite to see what Harry and Meghan are doing, just like any member of the Royal Family,” he added.
