Queen Camilla Takes Lead with ‘Powerful’ Move Amid Catherine’s Absence

King Charles’ wife praised for meaningful charity partnership

Queen Camilla has won praise for a thoughtful new step in her royal work as Catherine continues her break from demanding engagements.

Her Majesty’s project, The Queen’s Reading Room, has teamed up with The Elm Foundation, a charity supporting survivors of domestic abuse. The collaboration aims to highlight the healing power of literature, encourage book donations, and provide support to those affected by abuse, coercive control, and sexual violence.

Founded in 2023, The Queen’s Reading Room was created to champion reading as a way to learn, grow, and connect. This partnership marks one of its most significant milestones.

Jennifer Calverley, CEO of The Elm Foundation, described the move as “incredibly moving” and said it delivers a powerful message that “healing is multifaceted and that compassion can be woven through every aspect of support.”

Vicki Perrin, CEO of The Queen’s Reading Room, also applauded the Queen for her commitment, noting that “Her Majesty’s expertise and her understanding of domestic violence and the pathways to rebuilding lives are incredibly helpful to us in building our own work.” She added that only Camilla could unite the two causes for lasting change.

The development comes as Catherine has stepped back from “intense” royal duties to focus on her health and well-being during recovery from cancer treatment.
