Late monarch reportedly thought original name for Beatrice was too 'yuppie'
When their first child was born in 1988, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had a name in mind — Princess Annabel. Following tradition, they presented it to Queen Elizabeth for approval. But the late monarch reportedly felt the name was “too yuppie” for a royal and suggested an alternative.
In the end, the couple named their daughter Beatrice Elizabeth Mary, honoring both her grandmother and great-grandmother. Years later, Beatrice would pass part of that legacy on to her own daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, born in 2021.
Beatrice turned 37 on 8 August this year but is said to have marked the occasion quietly with her husband and child. The low-key celebration came amid fresh allegations against her parents in royal biographer Andrew Lownie's upcoming book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York.
The book claims Queen Elizabeth helped cover many of Andrew's expenses over the years, including an annual £32,000 payment for a spiritual advisor — an Indian yogi who stayed with him at Royal Lodge.
